excellent for a fruit, popcorn, or medium salad bowl

bowl measures 8 1/2" X 4 3/4"
The coloring in this bowl is highly unusual for any species of wood. I did an experiment where I left the freshly turned bowls in the sun for a week in the spring of 2016 while dousing them with water through out the day. The sun interacted with red alder's natural red stain and produced some striking colors and patterns.
Tall bowls are harder to make because gouges need to go deep into the bowl, but the shape is worth it. The interior goes a little past vertical (like an overhang) which makes the bowl excellent for scooping small items out with your hand, like popcorn or nuts.
I put a small lip below the rim for both visual balance and ease of two handed carrying.
This will make a beautiful utility bowl for fruit, popcorn, a two person salad, or dinner rolls. As with any bowl that is taken care of properly, this bowl should be around for generations.
