Sometimes a bowl's shape just creeps up on me! Because I salvage trees that have come to the end of their life, sometimes I have to remove wood that isn't suitable for a bowl. And that's how this rough shape developed.
This is a very old shape for a bowl, just like an upside down bell. (I'm also joking that maybe it will be a gift for someone's favorite belle.) The shape just lends itself to being held and carried, and that's why if I had to guess, I'd say there's a good chance this might hold packages of tea for when company comes for a cup of tea.
I could also see some cookies in here, but again, the sky and/or your imagination is the limit.
There are some darker streaks in this bowl from a nearby scar, and the grain shows subtle rippling that is best seen in person.
