When properly taken care of, your bowl should last for generations.
Almost every bowl I make has been finished with food-grade walnut oil. Walnut oil is a superior natural oil, unique in its quality to harden and form a protective polymerized finish. 100% natural, food-grade, and no thinners whatsoever.
Use your bowl as a fruit bowl, for serving salad, pasta, popcorn, but not hot foods such as soup.
When done, wipe dry. Or, you may wash with a wet cloth (soap is okay), then wipe dry, and leave in a good place to dry fully.
Please don’t soak your bowl in water. Dishwashers and microwaves are not okay!
Occasionally wipe with walnut oil. With proper care your wood bowl will last for generations.
ALLERGY NOTE: PEOPLE WHO ARE SENSITIVE TO NUT OILS SHOULD NEVER USE ONE OF THESE BOWLS.
The walnut oil I use has been "de-natured"—which means that the most of proteins have been removed, but these bowls are still potentially allergenic.
On occasion I finish bowls with pure Danish Oil. This finish is available upon special request. Just drop me a line...
